Work and Life can be stressful.
Forest Bathing and Nature Meditation can be a great way to relieve stress and a simple way to relax your mind, revitalize your body, and rediscover yourself.
It’s proved to be a very effective tool to overcome the ill effects of a hectic life and stressful work environment.

Forest Bathing (Shirin-yoku)
Forest bathing is the practice of immersing yourself in nature in a mindful way, using your senses to derive a whole range of benefits for your physical, mental, emotional, and social health. It is also known as Shinrin-yoku. ‘Shinrin’ means forest and ‘Yoku’ stands for bathing. The idea took birth in Japan in the 1980’s and proved to be a very effective tool to overcome the stresses of a hectic life and work environment.
This is not exercise, hiking, or jogging. It is simply being in nature, connecting with it through our senses of sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch. Shinrin-yoku is like a bridge. By opening our senses, it bridges the gap between us and the natural world.
By 2050, 66% of the world’s population is projected to live in cities. According to a study sponsored by the Environmental Protection Agency, the average American spends 93% of his or her time indoors. But the good news is that even a small amount of time in nature can have an impact on our health. A two-hour forest bath will help you to unplug from technology and slow down. It will bring you into the present moment and de-stress and relax you. Numerous studies conducted have shown that Shinrin-yoku has real health benefits.
Nature meditation
The Natural Environment and the human psyche are interconnected. Ancient cultures have long honored all aspects of nature. For centuries meditation has centered on nature, and monasteries have been strategically located within jungles and forests. Spending time in nature and practicing nature meditations can be conducive to reflection and mindfulness.
Maria Camara, PhD, a seasoned meditation teacher and psychologist, describes some of the powerful benefits of meditation in one of her Mind Talks on Mindworks App. She discusses how meditation can help reduce stress and improve our peace of mind.
